Sisi has dominated Egypt since leading the 2013 removal of elected president Mohamed Morsi, and constitutional changes allow him to stay until 2030. The most populous Arab state has taken repeated IMF programmes amid debt and currency crises while building a vast new administrative capital. Egypt is a central mediator on Gaza and controls the Suez Canal, whose revenues were hit by Red Sea attacks.
