With a peak elevation of under five metres, Tuvalu is a global symbol of climate risk, and the 2023 Falepili Union treaty with Australia created the world's first climate-mobility visa alongside an Australian security guarantee. The state is digitising itself to preserve sovereignty even if land becomes uninhabitable. It is also one of the few remaining diplomatic allies of Taiwan.
